The Boeing 737-800 with serial number MSN 30515 was built as a commercial passenger aircraft and was in commercial service for over two decades. Until July 2022, it flew as part of the Air China fleet, after which it was decommissioned.
In August 2023, the aircraft was registered in the US under the number N154TS to Falcon Aviation Holdings, a company with the same legal address as SpaceX in Hawthorne, California. This linked the aircraft to the space company founded by Elon Musk, although the official purpose of the aircraft was not publicly disclosed.
After re-registration, the aircraft was observed at Washington Dulles, Orlando International, Los Angeles International, Victorville, and Brownsville airports. The latter has a direct connection to SpaceX's production and launch sites in the Boca Chica area of Texas. At the same time, the aircraft was blocked from tracking via public ADS-B services, which is unusual for normal commercial operations.
The Boeing 737-800 SpaceX N154TS model is interesting to collectors as an example of the use of a serial airliner outside of traditional airlines. This is not a demonstration or branded aircraft, but a working tool.
