The Boeing 737-300 with the manufacturer's serial number (MSN) 23525 made its first flight with Lufthansa in October 1986. From December 1997 to October 1998, the aircraft was used by Saudi Arabian Airlines and British Airways, and in November 1989, Lufthansa reintroduced the Boeing 737 to its fleet and registered it under the original D-ABXD registration.
