Aviation tag TU-95 M/U 51 red
The keychain is cut from the original tail rudder of the legendary strategic bomber known by its NATO name, the Bear. First taking to the skies on November 12, 1952, the Bear entered service with the Soviet Air Force's Long-Range Aviation in 1956. The TU-95 was a vivid symbol of the Cold War, keeping the United States and its allies on edge. The TU-95 was chosen as the platform for testing the most powerful thermonuclear weapon known to mankind, the Tsar Bomba (AN602), on October 30, 1961. The Tu-95M (Bear-A) with factory number 7800503 and military index 51 was manufactured on February 28, 1958. Shortly thereafter, the aircraft was transferred to the 409th Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment, stationed at the Uzyn Air Base (Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic).

While serving in the 409th Regiment, Bear-A performed tasks assigned by the headquarters of the 106th Heavy Bomber Aviation Division. After completing its career, the 51st was converted into a TU-95U (Bear-T), a training version used to train crews, saving precious flight hours on later Bear models. In the late 1980s, the 51st was removed from flight service and in 1987 found use as a ground-based training aircraft. With the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1993, all nuclear and strategic weapons were removed from the Uzyn airbase, and the Bear 51 was moved and installed as a gatekeeper at the airbase.

In the early 2010s, the aircraft sustained damage to its tail rudder, which was likely caused by bad weather. The rudder was put into storage and only returned to service in 2021, when restoration work on the aircraft began.

The Fuselage Creations team helped restore the steering wheel, parts of which were used to create this beautiful, unique, and one-of-a-kind edition for aviation enthusiasts around the world.
