The Vickers VC10 G-ARVF embodies the history of British civil aviation and government transportation in the United Arab Emirates. In September 1964, this aircraft joined the BOAC fleet, and in 1974, it was transferred to British Airways. As early as July of that same year, a new phase of its service began—flights for the UAE government in a ceremonial configuration.
This model recreates that specific period: a white fuselage with thin red lines, the words United Arab Emirates in English and Arabic, a flag near the cockpit, and a large national emblem on the tail. The British registration G-ARVF is painted on the top of the keel, which the aircraft retained even while in service for the UAE.
A distinctive feature of the VC10 is its four engines, mounted in pairs at the rear of the fuselage, and its high T-shaped tail. This layout keeps the wing visually uncluttered and creates one of the most distinctive silhouettes among jet airliners of its era. Fun fact: the history of this particular aircraft did not end with its retirement—in 1981, it was transferred to an aviation museum in Hermeskail, Germany, for preservation.
