Aviation tag TU-154
This keychain is made from a real Tupolev Tu-154B-2 aircraft with serial number 0445 - a plane with a unique and little-known history. The aircraft was delivered to the Ukrainian SSR in 1980 and made its first flight on September 15, 1980, under registration CCCP-85445.
Unlike other aircraft in the series, this Tu-154 was given a special purpose. It was used as the personal aircraft of the Kyiv Military District command and was based at military unit 13786. Formally, the aircraft had the standard Aeroflot livery and a passenger configuration for 132 seats - a typical Soviet method of disguising military transport as civilian.
After the collapse of the USSR in 1992, the aircraft continued to serve in the Ukrainian Air Force, changing its registration to UR-85445 and receiving the Air Ukraine livery with the call sign Uniform Romeo. It remained in active service until 1998, including a short period of civilian lease in the mid-1990s.
On May 7, 1998, UR-85445 made its last flight and landed at Boryspil for the last time. During its entire service life, the aircraft flew only 4,289 hours and 48 minutes and made 3,136 landings — a relatively small number of flights for a Tu-154, which makes this aircraft particularly valuable from a historical point of view. After being taken out of service, it was used for a long time as a source of spare parts for other Ukrainian Tu-154s and was finally decommissioned in the fall of 2020.
The keychain is made from metal from this aircraft, so each piece is unique. It is not just an accessory, but a physical fragment of Soviet and Ukrainian aviation history that you can hold in your hands.
