Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack Aircraft Model, White Swan of the Ukrainian Air Force—184th Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment, 1:200 Scale
This 1:200 scale collectible model reproduces the Tupolev Tu-160 supersonic strategic bomber of the Ukrainian Air Force with tail number 10 (red). The aircraft is depicted in white with Ukrainian insignia on the wings and the Ukrainian coat of arms on the tail.
The Tu-160 is known by its NATO codename Blackjack and its unofficial nickname “White Swan,” which it earned due to its white paint scheme, smooth contours, and distinctive silhouette. The first aircraft of this type were delivered to the 184th Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment at the Pryluky Air Base in April 1987. After the collapse of the USSR, 19 Tu-160s remained on the territory of independent Ukraine.
The subsequent fate of the Ukrainian Tu-160s became one of the most dramatic chapters in the history of Ukrainian aviation. Between 1998 and 2001, ten aircraft were scrapped as part of an international strategic arms reduction program. Another eight aircraft were transferred to Russia in 1999–2000 to settle a natural gas debt. The only Tu-160 preserved in Ukraine was transferred to the Museum of Heavy Bomber Aviation in Poltava, where it became a unique museum exhibit.
The model’s main feature is its movable wings with variable sweep. They can be extended to replicate the aircraft’s configuration during takeoff and low-speed flight, or swept back to create the characteristic silhouette of supersonic flight. The cockpit, four engines, fuselage panels, tail section, and landing gear are also faithfully reproduced. The set includes a display stand on which the model can be displayed in its flight configuration.
